Why we exist:
SAFE & SOUND Therapy LLC exists to provide YOU with a safe place to move forward in your recovery journey. We primarily treat chronic and acute PTSD but also treat anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship problems, complex grief, personality disorders, co-dependency, addictions and more. If you have not yet found therapy helpful, please know you are not alone. We're here to help!
Why Try Therapy Again?
If you've tried therapy before and didn't find it helpful, you're not alone. Trauma is often misdiagnosed which means the interventions may help a little, but not enough. This results in feeling ashamed that the help isn't helping, and I've never met anyone who got better by being shamed into it.
Whether I am your first therapist or your fiftieth, I view it as a privilege to be given the chance to walk beside you in your personal health journey and see if things can improve. Way to go with even considering therapy again! Don't give up!

We are an out of network provider for insurance companies which means you must pay via credit card at the time of your appointment and you have the option to submit a superbill to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Your first session is an assessment that lasts 90 minutes and costs $200 - $250 depending on the length of the assessment. Each session after that typically lasts 75 minutes and costs $185 per session for individuals, $200 for couples/families.
Your assessment is done to help your clinician determine a preliminary diagnosis (if present) and share insights into what may be going on and what their approach would be for treatment.
You must be physically located in either Pennsylvania or Michigan to attend your therapy sessions.

Our phone number is 717-489-2550 however please remember this goes directly to voicemail and should not be used for emergencies. If you are having an emergency please dial 911, call the crisis number for your area or go directly to your local emergency room. If you are currently a SAFE & SOUND Therapy LLC client, please use the secure Therapy Appointment portal to contact us or call the main number.
If you are interested in meeting with Kim for specialized trauma/addiction care, please call 717-489-2550 and let her know of your desire to begin meeting with her. Keep in mind your assessment costs $200 - $250 (depending on amount of time spent) out of pocket and subsequent sessions cost $185 (individual) or $200 (couples/families) out of pocket as she does not take insurance. We hope to be taking new trauma coaching clients soon. Trauma coaching is private pay but is typically less expensive than therapy. Trauma coaching generally costs $100 - $150 per 60 minutes session depending on the coach and is primarily focused on walking with you as you make the changes you need to make to improve your life in ways that benefit you.
No you do not. Our Pennsylvania therapy clients can meet in person or via telehealth however for certain types of trauma therapy it is recommended you participate in person for at least the first few sessions. After that and provided you meet the criteria to participate safely in outpatient telehealth sessions, you can choose telehealth and/or in person therapy as long as you are physically located in Pennsylvania. Because we do not currently have an in-person office in Michigan, all Michigan clients must meet the telehealth requirements to begin outpatient therapy appointments as Michigan clients are telehealth only.
During your first session with SAFE & SOUND Therapy LLC, your therapist will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process and you will be given a chance to share whether or not you feel you and your therapist are a good fit. Sometimes it takes trying out several therapists before you find the right one and we understand that!
Michigan clients are currently able to meet with Kim via telehealth only however we may have an in-person option in the future so please contact us for more information if you would prefer in-person visits to find out more. All clients must be in either Michigan or Pennsylvania to attend online therapy sessions.
A counseling session with SAFE & SOUND Therapy typically lasts 75 minutes. Assessments are typically 90 minutes in length but could last longer. Counseling Intensives vary in length depending on the needs. Specialized assessments last approximately three hours in addition to time required for phone consults.
Dial 911, call your local crisis number and/or go to your nearest emergency room. Outpatient therapy is not designed to handle emergencies as there are other levels of care in our healthcare system better suited to help support people struggling to stay stable and safe. If you are not at a relatively stable point in your trauma and/or addiction recovery journey, the outpatient level of care may not be suitable for you. If you would like an evaluation to determine this, please let us know.
You are never charged for feeling sick or unwell and needing to cancel your session for that reason, however we may need to determine if counseling is possible for you if you miss three or more sessions due to a sudden illness and/or family emergency in a 12 month period. If you forget or choose to cancel your session and you are less than 24 hours before your session, you will be charged $125 cancellation/no show fee.
If you've tried therapy before and didn't find it helpful, you are not alone. Trauma is often misdiagnosed as something it is not, leading to more confusion and worsening symptoms. Being told to try harder when something isn't working is not the answer and in fact it can contribute to the development of troublesome coping strategies and further loss. At SAFE & SOUND Therapy and Coaching we feel privileged that you are giving us a chance to walk beside you in your personal health journey. It is never too late to improve your health and hopefulness and it is our joy to be used by God to help with that!

Thursdays: 4pm - 8pm (in-person or telehealth)
