My Qualifications
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Advanced Alcohol and other Drugs Counselor (CAADC), a Certified Trauma-Focused CBT Counselor (TF-CBT), a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapy Couples Counselor (CEFT), and a Certified ADHD Specialist. I primarily utilize narrative therapy but am trained in a variety of interventions including cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, polyvagal theory, attachment therapy and more. I am a trauma survivor myself and know the importance of finding the right kind of care.
My Journey
I have always had a heart for people in need. I have seen firsthand how people with trauma are misunderstood and misdiagnosed even by well-meaning people. This leads to their increased suffering and loss and it is something I am passionate about changing.
Recent studies show that people with PTSD have a shorter life expectancy by 20 years. Women with untreated trauma are four more times likely to die than their non-traumatized peers. Untreated PTSD in men significantly increases the risk of developing a substance use disorder. Trauma sufferers are more likely to develop significant physical and mental health issues that negatively impact their quality of life.
My own trauma recovery journey is deeply impacted by the bravery, insight and incredible love I have experienced in the world of trauma and addiction recovery. The lives of trauma survivors continually inspire me to press forward to find new and better ways for them to heal and recover. As a deeply devoted Christian I believe serving people in need is something God both empowers and calls us to do. Everyone on staff at SAFE & SOUND Therapy LLC is a committed Christian who shares this view however you do not need to share this view nor have any spiritual beliefs of any kind as a client/attendee/customer/member of SAFE & SOUND Therapy LLC.

WRITING
I am currently working on two book projects about trauma recovery.
SAFE & SOUND SUPPORT GROUP
I have created a support group program that I hope to see reproduced across the United States. Currently the pilot program is being run on Monday evenings from 7:00pm - 8:30pm at West Shore Evangelical Free Church, who were kind enough to welcome us into their facility. Stop by to check us out!
VOLUNTEER MEDIATOR FOR VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIME AND THEIR OFFENDERS
I love serving as a Mediator for victims of violent crime and their offenders through the Pennsylvania Office of Victim Advocacy. This program is an amazing gift to the traumatized people of the state of Pennsylvania and it is one of my highest privileges to serve with them since 2013.
HOBBIES
I love fighting zombies and playing mini-golf with family members who live far away through the technological magic of virtual reality. I also regularly run, do red-light therapy and try to remember to drink water. My least favorite thing is winter and my most favorite thing is laughing so hard it requires me to throw my head back.
